Premier Team of the Week #1

Credit:

It's our inaugural Premier Division Team of the Week so let the arguments begin. In a week that saw 25 goals over 10 games, forwards obviously shone brightest. However defenders have also been rewarded for keeping clean sheets, while several individuals drew plaudits for some standout performances. The only criteria we use for picking players is that they are chosen based on all games played in the week. So here it is:

Steven Trimble (Drogheda United)

Alan Keane (Sligo Rovers)
Gavin Peers (Sligo rovers)
Evan McMillan (St Patrick’s Athletic)
Mark Rossiter (Bohemians)

Joseph Ndo (Sligo Rovers)
Greg Bolger (Dundalk)
Ross Gaynor (Dundalk)

Mark Griffin (Dundalk)
Christy Fagan (Bohemians)
Danny North (St Patrick’s Athletic)

team of the week

Despite conceding three goals in Drogheda's two games, Steven Trimble put in two terrific performances and was ExtraTime.ie Man of the Match in the Louth club's defeat to Bohemians.

It was a great week for Sligo drawing away to Derry and then beating Shamrock Rovers. Moreover they kept two clean sheets and this is reflected with two defenders being included. Joseph Ndo completes the Bit O’ Red contingent for this week.

Dundalk had an equally impressive week in which they came agonisingly close to beating the defending champions. They made up for this disappointment in emphatic style with a 6-1 hammering of Galway. Three Dundalk players are included, though it could have been more with the likes of Keith Ward and Mark Quigley putting in commanding displays for the Lilywhites.

One in-form forward who did make the side is Christy Fagan whose three goals during the week helped the Gypsies move up to fifth place in the table. Pat's Danny North completes the side. The striker has been fundamental to the Inchicore club’s ascent to the top of the table and fittingly it was his goals against Bray Wanderers and Galway United that saw St Patrick’s Athletic wrestle top spot away from Shamrock Rovers
