Dundalk welcome bottom of the table Galway United to Oriel Park on Friday, where Galway will be hoping to end their run of 13 defeats in a row. (Kick-off 7.45pm)

Dundalk are currently seventh in the table but are 12 points of clear of UCD who lie just beneath them. A win could mean they pass out Bohemians but only if Bohs were to lose. Galway are stranded at the bottom of the table and six points below Drogheda United but any points gained will be welcomed.

Galway have been defeated both times they have met Dundalk this season. In their most recent meeting, The Lilywhites were comfortable 3-0 winners. A brace from Michael Hector and a goal from Mark Quigley gave Ian Foster’s side all three points.

Looking at recent games, Dundalk let a two goal lead slip against Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday night and finished the game with one point. Mark Griffin scored both goals for The Lilywhites who were leading until the 79th minute when Chris Turner notched one goal back for Shamrock Rovers. Billy Dennehy grabbed a 92nd minute equaliser for Rovers to pull a point out of the bag for the league leaders.

Things were very different for an injury stricken Galway United on Tuesday night. Sean Connor’s men fell to a 2-0 defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic. Goals from Danny North and Evan McMillan gave The Saints all three points and added to relegation worries for Galway.

In team news, Ian Foster is still without Eoghan Osborne and Stephen McDonnell but will be hoping that Jason Byrne will be fit. Dean Bennett and Colin Hawkins are doubtful as both as suffering from ankle injuries.

Sean Connor has several injury woes and will be without key players for this clash. Sean Kelly, Joseph Yoffe, Rory Gartlan, Shane Keogh and Enda Curran will all be missing along with Jonathan Keane who has been ruled out for the season. Steve Feeney will be missing through suspension.
