Shamrock Rovers draw FC Flora Tallinn in Champions League

Shamrock Rovers have drawn Estonian side FC Flora Tallinn in the UEFA Champions League second round. The Hoops were seeded in the draw and had the possibility of being drawn against Skonto Riga, Bangor City, HB Torshavn, Linfield, Flora or Breidablik.

Irish teams have played Estonian sides six times in European competition previously, with the record favouring the League of Ireland clubs, with three wins, two draws and only one loss. In 2001-2002, Bohemians defeated FC Levadia Maardu 3-0 over two legs. Bohs were to meet Estonian opposition again in 2004-2005 but this time Levadia Tallinn defeated the Gypsies 3-1. More recent in the 2008-2009 season, Drogheda United got revenge for the Bohs defeat overcoming FC Levadia Tallinn 3-1 on aggregate.

The first legs of the second qualifying round are due to be played on the 12th and 13th July with the second legs being played one week later on the 19th and 20th of July.

St Patrick's Athletic have been drawn away to IBV of Iceland in the first qualifying round of the Europa League. Their full name is Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja and they are from the south coast city of Vestmannaeyja. They finished third in the Icelandic league in 2010 and the first leg will take place at their 1,500 capacity stadium on 30th June with the second leg taking place at Richmond Park on the 7th July. If Pats progress past the Icelandic side, they will face either FC Kober of Slovenia or Kazakhstan side FC Shakhtar Kharagandy

Bohemians have been drawn in the second qualifying round of the Europa League and they will face either Bosnian-Herzegovinian team NK Široki Brijeg or NK Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia.
