The first and second qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League will take place on Monday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon at 11am.

Four clubs will compete in the first qualifying round of the Champions League with a further 32 clubs, including Shamrock Rovers and Linfield, joining the two winners in the draw for the second qualifying round.

Shamrock Rovers just about made it into the top 17 clubs, based on UEFA coefficients, and as such will be seeded for the draw which could pit them against Linfield or Bangor City of the Welsh league. Michael O’Neill will certainly be hoping for such a draw in preference to some of the more distant and inaccessible entrants. But a journey to Armenia, Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan could be on the cards, not to mention the possibility of being drawn against HB Torshavn of the Faroe Islands.

The first legs of the second qualifying round are due to be played on the 12th and 13th July with the second legs being played one week later on the 19th and 20th of July.

The Airtricity league have three entrants in the Europa League; St Patrick’s Athletic, Bohemians, and Sligo Rovers. St Pats will compete in the first qualifying round along with 49 other sides from across Europe including Fulham, although both will be seeded and cannot meet each other. The dates for these ties will be 30th June for the first leg and 7th July for the second leg.

Bohemians will join the competition in the second qualifying round along with teams such as Olympiacos, Dundee United and Israeli side Bnei Yehuda, the team that Shamrock Rovers defeated in last season’s competition. Bohs will be seeded in this draw and the ties will be played on 14th and 21st of July.

Supporters of Sligo Rovers will have to wait to find out who they will face in the third qualifying round which will be played on 28th July and 4th August.
