Earlier kick-off for Cork v Mervue

Cork City’s Airtricity First Division game with Mervue United at Turners Cross on Thursday evening has been moved to an earlier kick-off time of 6.30 p.m.

The time change is as a result of necessary work upgrading the floodlighting system at Turner’s Cross that the Munster Football Association have been carrying out in recent days.

High winds have resulted in delays to the completion of this work, meaning the floodlighting system will not be fully functional in time for the fixture, necessitating the earlier kick off.

City boss Tommy Dunne said: “We realise that the earlier kick off will inconvenience people, but unfortunately it is beyond our control. We have had several away games lately, so this is an opportunity for people to come out and see the team when they may not have had an opportunity to do so in recent weeks. I know that Cork City fans always redouble their efforts to get behind their team in the face of adverse situations, and I hope that we will have a big crowd tomorrow night.”
