Endemol Sports and the broadcasting giant Sky Sports have today agreed a three – year deal for the rights to air the Dublin Super Cup. The tournament debuts this July in the Aviva Stadium and includes the first team squads from Inter Milan, Manchester City, Celtic and an Airticity League XI.

While being a massive boost for the FAI, it also promotes the Airtricity League, as our players now have the opportunity to gain worldwide recognition. As well as securing Sky Sports, Endemol are also currently in ongoing negotiations with television broadcasters in over one hundred territories across the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The three year deal is important for the publicity of the pre-season spectacular as it guarantees the participation of one leading Barclays Premier League side, a top Italian or Spanish side, along with another well known European side and an Airtricity League selection every year.

Sky Sports will be leveraging its production resources to ensure top class HD coverage and a world feed for viewers to enjoy internationally. In response to Sky Sports becoming the inaugural home of the tournament, the Managing Director of Sky Sports, Barney Francis said “The Dublin Super Cup will be part of our summer of live football on Sky Sports. We look forward to showing three of the best-known teams in Europe and the finest Irish talent in four live matches.”

The tournament takes place on the Bank Holiday weekend of the 30th-31st July and will feature some of the world’s most talented footballers. Irish fans will get to enjoy seeing players such as the World Cup winner David Silva in action alongside teammates Adam Johnson and Yaya Toure. Africa’s most decorated footballer Samuel Eto’o will also be on show with Wesley Sneijder and Celtic star Scott Brown.

The deal secures the broadcasting rights for Sky Sports until the 2013 tournament. The deal follows a ten-year agreement between Endemol Sport and the Football Association of Ireland. The excitement surrounding the deal is evident as Gregg Oldfield, the Managing Director of Endemol Sports commented “This multi-year partnership will see the Dublin Super Cup become a landmark in Sky Sports’ live summer football output. We are extremely proud to be joining forces with Sky and bringing a brand new, world class football tournament to one of the world’s leading sports broadcasters.”
