Waterford United will be looking to build on last weekend’s 2-1 away win when they welcome Mervue United to the RSC on Friday night.Kick-off 7.45pm.

The home side ended a four game losing streak last weekend when goals from Conor Sinnott and David Breen were enough for the victory. Mervue United also come into the game on the back of a morale boosting 3-1 home win against Monaghan United.

Waterford United manager Stephen Henderson was delighted with the win but isn’t expecting an easy game on Friday."It's just great to get a win because losing four games is devastating on everybody and everyone gets on edge. We started very well and we were very good in the first half.”

”But it's our passing that's really letting us down at the moment but we're working on that. Mervue United are next and they had a great result against Monaghan, so we will have to at our best once again for that match."

The Blues should welcome back striker Willie John Kiely after a recent knee injury. Paul Murphy misses the game as he serves the second game of his two game ban for a recent sending off against Shelbourne. Brian Nolan returns after a hip injury forced him to miss the Wexford game last weekend.

Mervue boss Johnny Glynn was delighted to halt a three match run of defeats last Friday night and hopes his side can carry confidence into the game on Friday night. “Delighted with the three points and our first home win at Fahy’s Field and on the back of three defeats I thought we played very well for the whole game and it is a great boost to the squad.”

“Hopefully the win last week has restored our confidence and we now need to build on that win this week and try and put two good performances back to back, so that is the challenge for the squad this week.”

Glynn will be without Nicky Curran (knee), Damien O’Rourke (Achilles) and Dan Cunningham (exams), while Tom King, who has just returned from Scotland with the Irish Colleges team, is also doubt with a groin injury. John Mountney will return to the squad.
