Sligo Rovers -v- Derry City
Paul Cook’s Sligo Rovers will be hoping to pick up on recent poor form when they face Derry City at the Showgrounds today (Kick off 3pm).
Sligo have suffered two defeats in a row at the hands of UCD last Friday and Bohemians the previous week. The Bit O’Red’s first game of the season was against Derry City, a game in which they took all three points.
Derry have recorded five victories in eight games with their most recent victory coming against Bohemians where the Candystripes claimed a 2-0 victory.
The Candystripes are undefeated since the opening game of the season, where they had a penalty saved and gave away an 88th minute goal. Sligo have dropped to fifth in the table whereas Derry are second lying just two points below leaders Shamrock Rovers.
Paul Cook has no fresh injury concerns or suspensions. Alan Kirby, Daryl Horgan, Matthew Blinkhorn and Aaron Greene will all be hoping for starts. Derry are still without Barry Molloy and Ruairi Harkin due to injury. Stewart Greacen is suspended.
Speaking about the game against Sligo, Derry manager Stephen Kenny said: “I felt we were unlucky to lose to Sligo at the Brandywell at the start of the season. They have had a mixed bag over the last few weeks but no doubt Paul Cook will have them firing on all cylinders for North West derby”.
