Europa League trophy on view

If anyone at Atletico Madrid happens to glance in at their trophy cabinet over the next few days they might be alarmed to see an empty space where their Europa League trophy used to be. The reason for it’s absence is simple, it’s in Phibsborough, and it will be available to view in St Peter’s national school on Friday evening prior to Bohemians’ Airtricity League clash with Derry City on Friday night between 6.30 and 7.45pm.

By the time that Bohemians and Derry City take to the Dalymount Park pitch on Friday night we will be half way to knowing which two teams will be taking part in the Europa League final at the Aviva Stadium in just a few weeks time.

Benfica take on SC Braga in Lisbon tonight (Thursday) while, up the Portuguese coast in Porto, the second semi-final between FC Porto and Spanish club Villareal takes place.

But before the trophy is hoisted aloft by the winning captain at the Aviva Stadium on 18th May it has this appointment with the general public. So, if you have a few minutes to spare before the game on Friday night, pop into St Peter’s, which is situated behind the Des Kelly stand on St Peter’s Road, for a close up view.
