Week 8

Credit:

After narrowly missing out on another win last week due to a 93rd minute goal from UCD, we're hoping to notch up a win this week and I'm going for an interesting five-timer.

Firstly Sligo Rovers look decent odds to defeat Bohemians at home tomorrow night in the live televised encounter at Evens, especially after they lost to Shamrock Rovers in the Setanta Cup during the week.

Next, Dundalk (4/6) will surely defeat neighbours Drogheda United in the opening Louth derby of the season. Although these games have been close encounters in recent times, Dundalk have a far superior squad at their disposal and should win away from home.

Bray Wanderers (4/5) are still impressing Longshot, and they can get another win against a poor Galway United team.

Athlone Town should defeat Mervue, particularly after beating Finn Harps at home in midweek in that re-arranged fixture, while Cork City will still be top of the First Division at the end of the weekend with a win away to Salthill Devon at 3pm (1/3).

Longshot selections:
Sligo Rovers to beat Bohs (Evs)
Dundalk to beat Drogheda United (4/6)
Bray Wanderers to beat Galway United (4/5)
Cork City to beat Salthill Devon (1/3)
Athlone Town to beat Mervue United (6/5)

Reporter Selections
Last week, our head photographer Andy McDonnell took our useless reporter betting performance and flew it out of the red and very much into the black as his 10 euro treble netted a cool 450 euro. Another treble is on the cards this week. Our Finn Harps/Derry City reporter Alan Foley has put all his eggs in one basket with the following bet:

Bet 1: Sligo (evens), Shams -1 (11/10), Finn Harps to draw with Longford (21/10) which will pay 260.40 euro if it comes in.

Supporter Selections Ms. Maguire's bets last week came up with naught so that leaves the readers on the brink with a minor loss of 7.50 euro. This week Paul Kelly steps up to the plate, 20 euro in hand and has decided on two separate bets.

Bet 1: Shams -1 v UCD 11/10 €10
Bet 2: Mons 2/5 Longford 9/5 to win €10 double
