O'Callaghan on the move again
The journeyman career of Corkman George O’Callaghan continued today as Cambridge United announced the signing of the 31 year-old on a non-contract basis.
After falling out with Cork City for a third time last season, O’Callaghan had a two week trial with Brentford in February before heading to Cambridge.
He impressed for the Conference side in a trial and will now line-out for The U’s on a rolling game-by-game basis. Currently lying in 16th place with six games to go in the season, Cambridge are just six points above the relegation zone.
O’Callaghan has also had spells with Port Vale, Brighton, Yeovil Town, Ipswich Town and Tranmere Rovers cross-channel, while appearing for Waterford United and Dundalk in the LoI in a career that has seen him play some terrific football, but also fall out with several managers.
