Week 5

Declan Basquille put the supporters back into the black last week, and although Longshot had no luck, they’re both now well ahead of the writers. Aidan Farrelly will try and make amends again this week.

Longshot

We’re simplifying it a little bit this week and going for a simple treble that will yield a healthy profit. Regardless, I’m still in a good bit of profit and this is one Longshot really fancies.

First up, Derry City (Evs) travel to the Carlisle Grounds and should take the points against Bray Wanderers. The Wicklow team have made a solid start to the campaign but the Candystripes should have enough to take the points home with them.

Tonight’s live TV game sees St Patrick’s Athletic (Evs) entertain Bohemians, and while the Saints have had a couple of strange games at home already this year, last weekend’s last gasp victory over Dundalk would have seen them receive a massive boost in confidence.

Pete Mahon will be absent after the unfortunate death of his mother earlier this week, but the uncertainties surrounding Pat Fenlon in the other dugout mean it’s hard to know what to expect from the Gypsies, so expect the home team to just about have enough.

Cork City haven’t been that great so far, but they still remain unbeaten and another home win should be on the cards against Monaghan United tonight. The inclusion of the Roddy-factor should also mean the home side will be charged up, and they look decent odds at 21/20.

Longshot’s Selections
Bet 1: €20 treble; Derry City to beat Bray Wanderers (Evs), St Patrick’s Athletic to beat Bohemians (Evs), Cork City to beat Monaghan United (21/20).

Supporter Selections
David Smith is this week’s supporter and he has gone for two separate bets, though he’ll need St Pat’s to beat Bohemians to stand any chance of winning in either.
