Week 4

Longshot and guest reporter Brendan White failed to bag a winner last week, though Dylan Farrell made a slight profit when he picked Eamon Zayed to score the first goal for Derry City against Drogeda United. This week it’s the turn of Declan Basquille, a Sligo Rovers supporter, to take on Longshot and our guest reporter, ExtraTime head honcho Gareth Penrose.

To enter our three-way league between Longshot, a guest ExtraTime reporter and YOU every week, the rules are as follows: wait for the prompt each Thursday on our Facebook page and send your €20 worth of selections to our usual e-mail address extratimelive@gmail.com. An entrant will be selected at random each Friday morning, to compete against Longshot and the ET reporter. Keep an eye on the end of the article each week to track who’s making profit and who’s losing their hard-earned cash.

Longshot
No luck last week, but I’m still ahead of the writers and the supporters for another few weeks yet. There are a couple of tricky assignments this weekend, so I’m gone for a true Longshot special by picking a €20 five-timer that will pay over €500 if it comes up.

Shamrock Rovers face another difficult proposition away from home in Derry City. The Candystripes will be disappointed not to have finished Drogheda United off last weekend, allowing them back into the game and eventually taking a point. It means Stephen Kenny will have his side well prepared to make amends tonight against the Hoops. Rovers have been so impressive though, that I still fancy an away win (23/20).

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, I think UCD (11/10) will take three points at home to Bray, while I think St Pat’s (5/4) will be very geed up when Dundalk come to Inchicore after two defeats on the bounce.

To finish off the bet, I think Cork City (8/15) are certain to take the points against Athlone, who are struggling with numbers, while Waterford United (8/13) should finally get a win under their belts at home to Finn Harps.

Longshot’s Selections
Bet 1: €20 five-timer; Shamrock Rovers to beat Derry City (23/20), UCD to beat Bray Wanderers (11/10), St Patrick’s Athletic to beat Dundalk (5/4), Cork City to beat Athlone Town (8/15), Waterford United to beat Finn Harps (8/13).

Reporter Selections
This week Gareth Penrose has gone for two separate bets in an attempt to make up some of the ET losses.
Bet 1: €10 four-timer; Cork City to beat Athlone Town (8/15), Shelbourne to beat Mervue United (3/10), Bray Wanderers to beat UCD (5/2), Dundalk to beat St Patrick’s Athletic (2/1).
Bet 2: €10 four-timer; Waterford United to beat Finn Harps(8/13), Dundalk to beat St Patrick’s Athletic (2/1), Derry City v Shamrock Rovers draw (9/4), Bohemians to beat Galway United (1/2).

Supporter Selections
Sligo Rovers fan Declan Basquille is this week’s chosen supporter, and he has gone for two separate punts.
Bet 1: €10 single; Sligo Rovers to beat Drogheda United ht-ft (Evs).
Bet 2: €10 single; Bray Wanderers to beat UCD (5/2).
