St Patrick's Athletic have issued an apology to Shamrock Rovers over an article that appeared in the May 4th edition of the Inchicore clubs official match day programme. The piece was written by Ronan O'Flaherty.

The article in question was deemed to be libellous of the Board of Directors of Shamrock Rovers Football Club, and of the fans of the club. It suggested that Rovers fans engage in "unlawful activity" at matches, and that the club has a confrontational fanbase, which the board "shamefully" never does anything to address.

The Board of Shamrock Rovers Football Club considered a number of remarks in the article to be highly libellous and instructed their solicitors to demand a retraction and an apology.

St Pat's have agreed to issue a full apology - the full text of which can be seen in the next edition of St Pat's match day programme, as well as in the edition covering the game against Shamrock Rovers on July 18th next.
