Fenlon happy with good league start
It was a case of mixed emotions for Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon after he watched his side claim a hard earned point at Oriel Park. Fenlon was in a philosophical mood following the game.
“I think it was a tight game. I don’t think either side was that much in the ascendency. On chances we probably shaded it, their keeper made two very good saves to keep them in the game. Coming up we would have been delighted with a point, leaving we’re happy with a point but disappointed we didn’t nick it to be honest.”
With regards to the controversial Daniel Kearns penalty claim, Fenlon admitted it looked like a penalty although he did say he didn’t feel the play should have got that far.
“I felt it was a foul on Killian Brenna coming up to it and I think that’s why he might not have given it. I think he might have got both of them wrong to be honest. You need a bit of luck coming to these places; I think it would have been very harsh if we’d have lost it in the last five minutes.”
With three games down, Fenlon is more than content with Bohemians start to the season which has seen them take seven points from a possible nine.
“We’re delighted. Considering where we were four or five weeks ago. We’ve played two away games already and we’re pleased to pick up seven out of nine. With a little bit of luck we might have had nine out of nine.”
After a solid start to their campaign Bohs can now look forward to a midweek trip to play Scottish Premier League side Hibernian. Fenlon is excited at the prospect of the game and the invaluable experience it offers the younger members of his squad.
“We’re going to play Hibs on Monday and a lot of the players are looking forward to it. It’s different, we will get a real test and it will help with our fitness levels as well.”
