O'Connor drafted in at Limerick
After an early injury crisis has left Limerick short of attacking options, Pat Scully has added the services of ex-Shamrock Rovers player Sean O’Connor.
Gary Sheahan had been signed from Wexford Youths at the beginning of the season, but he sustained a horrific broken leg on the opening day of the season away to Finn Harps, with several other players also out of action in the short-term.
O'Connor was released by the Tallaght club after three seasons in 2010, making 74 appearances for the Hoops, and will surely fit in well at Jackman Park.
“Due to our injury and suspension situation myself and the board have been looking at the possibility of signing another attacking player. We are delighted to announce that Sean O’Connor has signed a deal with the club so he will be available for Friday's game [against Cork City] all going well. Sean is a quality player and will be a great addition to the club after spending the last 3 seasons with Shamrock Rovers,” Scully said after announcing the signing.
“Turners Cross has always been one of my favourite grounds. It's a real football ground with a lovely pitch which will suit the way our lads like to play. I have no doubt there'll be a large vocal crowd with a fantastic atmosphere.”
Correction: Earlier this article stated that Shane O'Connor had signed for Limerick, and not Sean O'Connor, as is the actual case.
