Week 2

Credit:

Last week, our mystery tipster Longshot came up trumps when his €15 quad, consisting of St Pats, UCD, Sligo and Shamrock Rovers came in at more than 11/1, with a return of 184.60 including the stake. ExtraTime reporter Simon O’Gorman failed to produce the goods, while Brendan Graham, representing the readers, saw his four bets go down too, putting our betting expert into an early lead.

Also, another plug for our three-way league between Longshot, a guest ExtraTime reporter and YOU every week. The rules are as follows: wait for the prompt each Thursday on our Facebook page and send your €20 worth of selections to our usual e-mail address extratimelive@gmail.com. An entrant will be selected at random each Friday morning, to compete against Longshot and the ET reporter. Keep an eye on the end of the article each week to track who’s making profit and who’s losing their hard-earned cash.

Longshot
I hope you were all on my first bet last week, because it would have yielded a healthy profit and a great way to kick-off the new season. Luck was on my side in a sense as Sligo Rovers left it late, but a game is 90 minutes, not 88, so Aaron Greene’s late intervention was a nice way to round up the win. There are few better feelings than taking money off the bookies with a late win.

Longshot doesn’t rest on his laurels though, and this week I’m putting all of my €20 pot on another quad that will hopefully be successful. First off I fancy St Pats (4/11) again this weekend. They were impressive in the second half against Galway last week and after Bohs edged past Bray, I think the Inchicore men will make it six points from six.

Next up I believe UCD (2/1) can narrowly edge past Derry City at Belfield tonight, after they also beat Drogheda on the opening night. The other two sides are Cork City (8/13), who will have too much for Mervue United in Galway, while Limerick(1/7) have far too much in their locker when they face-off against Salthill Devon at Jackman Park.

The quad will pay about 13/2 in most shops, so a €20 stake would see you make €130 profit.

Good luck in all your betting this week, especially ahead of Cheltenham next week!
