The Football Association of Ireland today (March 7) announced that it has renewed its partnership with Ford as Official Vehicle sponsor of the FAI and its international teams for a further four year term. Under the agreement, Ford will also sponsor this year’s FAI Ford Cup which will culminate in Aviva Stadium where the final will be played on November 6.  To mark its association with the competition, Ford will also commission a commemorative book on the history of the FAI Cup from 1922 to 2010, to be compiled by the respected soccer writer, Sean Ryan.

Speaking today, Eddie Murphy, Managing Director Ford Ireland said, "We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the FAI and working closely again with them to develop this great competition.”

"Welcoming the announcement, Chief Executive of the FAI, John Delaney said, “Ford has a long and proud association with Irish football and we very pleased that Eddie and his team will continue that support. The agreement provides an important source of funding to develop football at all levels throughout the country. Given Ford’s special relationship with the FAI Ford Cup, a competition that the Fordsons factory team won in 1926, we see it as particularly fitting that they should commission a commemorative book on the history of the competition.”
