Youths' Wallace celebrates election success

Mick Wallace, the Independent candidate who topped the poll in the Wexford constituency with 13,329 votes (17.6%), has expressed his thanks to the people of Wexford for their overwhelming support.
"It's not easy to put into words what has happened," Wallace said. "I feel a huge responsibility to the people of Wexford who have shown the courage to look for change and I do not carry it lightly. I want to say thank you to the people of Wexford, who have now given me the opportunity of bringing a new approach.
"The three major parties who have had the scene to themselves for so long, seem to be in denial with the decision the people have made. Their efforts to dismiss Mick Wallace as a celebrity candidate are disingenuous. The reality is the people have spoken and have clearly signalled they have had enough of what was on offer for the last number of years. Their effort to suggest that the people didn't know what they were voting for is an insult to the people of Wexford."
