CUFL Premier Division Final Preview
The ITs of Tallaght and Carlow will contest the final of the CUFL Premier Division tonight in Whitehall (k.o 7pm), with both sides boasting young stars from League of Ireland clubs.
IT Tallaght, managed by Limerick FC boss Pat Scully, have Bray full-back David Webster and Shamrock Rovers youngster Michael Isichei in their side for the final. Athlone 'keeper Michael Schlingermann should start in goal for Carlow alongside Town teammate Robert Tier, while Shane Tracy will face his manager at club level should he play. Longford Town striker Don Cowan should lead the line for ITT.
Craig Sexton of Bohemians, Karl Keogh of Wexford Youths and Raymond Foy of Finn Harps are also in the IT Carlow squad. The two sides qualified for the final after finishing in the top two of the CUFL Premier Division East and West (ITT came second in the East, ITC topped the Western division.)
Carlow went on to thump Cork IT 4-1 in the semi-final, with goals from Shane Tracy, Arminas Balfuicius of Southend, Ben Ryan and Tom Elmes. Tallaght won narrowly in their semi-final, only beating UUJ 1-0, after progressing from the quarter-final with another 1-0 win over DIT. Both sides are looking for their first-ever CUFL trophy at this level.
