Carlisle United secure Madden signature

Carlisle United have confirmed the signing of Bohemians striker Paddy Madden. The two-and-a-half year contract will keep Madden at Brunton Stadium until the summer of 2013 wearing the number 19 jersey.

Madden, 20, joined Bohs in 2008 before a loan spell with Shelbourne in 2009 where he notched six goals in 14 appearances.

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott said: "Patrick has an excellent reputation and he comes to us highly recommended. "We've had him watched and he is a striker who likes to be involved, and who can also use the ball. We think he'll fit in with the way that we want to play the game and he has the type of attitude that will make him an asset to the squad.”

"He has done well with the Bohs and he sees this is an opportunity to come over here and make a mark. We need players with that drive and hunger. He'll provide competition for places in a key area and, hopefully, he'll also chip in with a few goals. We're really looking forward to working with him."

This transfer remains subject to International, FA and Football League clearance and as so Madden will not be available to play in the Tuesday evening's game against Huddersfield Town.
