Delaney requests conference postponement
The PFAI press conference scheduled for Friday afternoon over the possibility of a winding-up order being issued to Bohemian FC by Brian Shelley and Stephen Gray was today cancelled.
A press release from Stephen McGuinness, General Secretary of the players association, said it had been postponed for 24 hours at the request of FAI chief John Delaney.
Later in the evening however, the players union confirmed that “due to ongoing negotiations between the parties there will be no further announcement until 24 January.”
According to McGuinness, the press conference has been cancelled on the belief that Delaney will be involved in negotiations involving the parties with a view to reaching some sort of agreement.
If an agreement hadn’t been reached by the close of play on Friday, however, the press conference was expected to go ahead on Saturday but it will now be Monday before news will be announced of whether a deal has been agreed between the club and the two players.
Last week, Shelley and Gray filed a petition in the High Court to wind up the Dalymount Park club after they went two months without wages.
