Limerick FC announce Frost signing
Limerick FC have confirmed the signing of John Frost for the 2011 season. The defender makes the move from Sporting Fingal.
Frost started his League of Ireland with home-town club Waterford United where he went on to captain the side in a seven year stint. He won promotion with the club in 2003. The 30-year-old left Waterford United in 2005 and joined St. Patrick’s Athletic where he enjoyed three seasons at the Inchicore club, becoming a fans favourite in the process.
In 2008, ‘Frosty’ joined Sporting Fingal initially on loan before making the deal a permanent one. Last season he made just seven appearances as Lorcan Fitzgerald held onto the left-back spot.
Speaking to Limerickfc.ie, John said: “I'm delighted to sign with Limerick FC. My family is from Limerick and I'm very proud of my Limerick roots, so I was delighted when this opportunity arose, to play for my ‘real’ home club. But importantly, this is also a club with ambition and I look forward to playing my part in our push to get Limerick promoted to the Premier Division.”
Also speaking to Limerickfc.ie, Pat Scully said: “John's signing shows that, as a club, we can attract Premier players. I have always rated John very highly. He will bring great experience and character to the team and will be a great example for the young players to learn from.”
