Shamrock Rovers - 2010 League Champions

Shamrock Rovers have ended a sixteen year wait to win the Airtricity Premier Division for the 16th time at the Carlisle Grounds tonight.

A 2-2 draw was good enough for the Hoops to deny arch-rivals Bohemians a third title in a row after the Gypsies lost out on goal difference after beating Dundalk 3-1 at Dalymount Park.

Having fallen behind to a Jake Kelly goal midway through the opening period, Gary Twigg levelled for Rovers just before half-time. Tommy Stewart then put them ahead just twelve seconds after the break with a super finish.

Although Gary Shaw levelled for Bray with a well-placed header in the 69th minute, it was still Michael O’Neill’s night as Rovers lifted the trophy in front of a huge away following.
