Blues announce departure of Sean Francis
Waterford United would like to announce that Assistant Manager Sean Francis offered his resignation following last night’s game against Athlone Town.
Francis, who joined the club with Gareth Cronin, offered to step down due to the current financial situation at the Blues in order to minimise the effect on the players.
His offer was reluctantly accepted by the Management Committee and manager Gareth Cronin has praised his unselfish offer.
“Sean was a tremendous asset to Waterford United and his record as a player and as a member of the management team is superb. He was hugely disappointed with the turn out in recent weeks following the club’s appeal for support and his offer is typical of the man. He has always put the players before himself and this is no different. I would like to wish Sean the very best and I have no doubt he will be snapped up by another club.”
