Rice appointed Rovers Captain

Stephen Rice has been handed the captain’s armband at Shamrock Rovers while Aidan Price remains sidelined.

“Aidan won’t be available for the first few weeks of the new season so we’ve decided to make Stephen captain,” says Hoops’ boss, Pat Scully.

“Stephen embodies everything you’d want in a captain at Shamrock Rovers. He’s a top-class professional, with a tremendous attitude and great desire.

“We’ve also made Darragh Maguire vice captain. Darragh’s probably the most experienced player at Rovers as he’s won trophies and played in cup finals.

“Both Stephen and Darragh are highly influential,” he adds. “The pre-season’s gone really well, all the new players have settled and are making an impact. We’re looking forward immensely to the start of the campaign.”
