McGowan departs Dundalk

Following discussions on Thursday, Scottish-born Northern Ireland full back Michael McGowan has signed a mutual cancellation of his contract with Dundalk FC, which takes effect immediately.
After a season with Queen of the South, McGowan signed for Dundalk in the July 2009 transfer window. He made his competitive debut in a 3-0 win at Galway United on 17 July and went on to score his first club goal in a thrilling 4-3 victory at Sligo Rovers three weeks later. McGowan left Dundalk at the end of that season but returned to Oriel Park on 6 May 2010.
