Gormley rues costly mistakes

After watching his side lose 3-1 to Sligo Rovers, despite having an extra man for the majority of the game, Bray Wanderers manager Eddie Gormley was frank when asked how he felt about the game. "Disappointed, obviously. They go down to ten men, we get our way back into the game and we didn't kick on from when we got back to 1-1. A lot of possession second half, didn't use it well enough but it was disappointing. Two bad mistakes and they cost you dearly in the end."

With Monday's rescheduled game against Dundalk postponed once again, the Seagulls' next game is on Friday when they host table-toppers St. Patrick's Athletic. When asked if this would aide his side's preparation, Gormley agreed, adding: "It's difficult for the squad of players that we have to play two games a week. That was fairly evident last week. A good performance on the Friday and a poor performance on the Monday so we're happy that the game is off on Monday. The lads can get a bit of rest and refocus and get ready for the game against Pats here next Friday."

Gormley also bemoaned his squad's lack of options, stating: "You have to look at the substitutes they brought on. You look at their bench, experienced players all over it, on the park and on the bench."

"We had three injuries going into the game and then we lose Danny O'Connor in the warm-up so we just can't shift those sort of injuries, particularly with the squad we have so I've no doubts that once we get our strongest eleven on the pitch, hopefully, the injuries clear up, we'll get enough points to hopefully keep ourselves in the league."
