Dunne pleased with home win

Tommy Dunne looked relieved on Friday night after his Cork City team finally secured a home win against Finn Harps at Turner’s Cross.
Goals from Graham Cummins and Shane Barrett, making his home debut, were enough to edge past James Gallagher’s side in an entertaining contest.
“Overall we are pleased, we deserved the three points with the chances we had even though he had a few scares, too,” Dunne said.
“I thought Finn Harps were decent and played some good football, especially in the first half. We had to adjust ourselves in the second half so it wasn’t easy for them to get playing and get crosses into the box.
“The first goal was a great goal and well executed by Graham, while Shane had a cool head for the second.”
There were still some frailties at the back with Mark McNulty almost causing a couple of first half disasters and Dunne still thinks they need to be tightened up defensively.
“We need to tidy up at the back as a team. We want to be an attacking team but we have got be organized quicker at the back.
“We need to work harder to make those extra tackles, they are the basics of the game and it makes a big difference.”
George O’Callaghan was back on the pitch and his ten minute cameo off the bench created several late chances for City.
“He made a difference in the last ten minutes, and he created a few chances for us. We need to play a bit more football because I felt we didn’t play as much as we would normally. “It was a decent enough spectacle for the people who came to watch and we are happy to get three points at home.”
Meanwhile, Dunne has said that Dave Warren is due to leave the club because of work commitments.
Instead, O’Callaghan is now wearing the number 8 jersey, though Warren must still sign release forms in the coming days.
