Mervue to take on Port Vale
Mervue Utd have announced that they will play English League Two side
Port Vale in a friendly game next Thursday evening (22nd July) as part
of Vale’s tour of the West of Ireland. The game kicks of at Terryland
Park at 7.30pm.
Port Vale finished tenth in League Two last season and are managed by former Leeds Utd and Southampton player Mickey Adams who has also managed Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City where he guided the team to promotion to the Premier League in the 2002/2003 season.
Port Vale have also lined up friendly’s with Athlone Town (Tuesday 20th July) and Ballinasloe Town for the following Saturday. That recently announced game against Ballinasloe is due to take place at the Curragh Grounds at 3pm.
Before their friendly with the Staffordshire outfit, Mervue will make the short trip to Drom for the second Galway City derby in the Airtricity First Division on Saturday evening as they face local rivals Salthill Devon.
