Ollie has 'lots to offer'
After leaving Shamrock Rovers by mutual consent Ollie Cahill told
extratime he feels he still has a lot to offer at the top level.
Cahill hasn’t figured in Michael O’Neill’s plans of late and the Tipperary native thinks it was in everyone’s interests that he changed direction.
“I haven’t been involved really for the last couple of months and I wasn’t happy with it. I felt it was best for both parties really [to leave].
“I’ve been watching from the stands the last couple of weeks and haven’t even been on the subs bench…..with a great club like Shamrock Rovers you want to be on the pitch,” stated Cahill.
The midfielder, who has had an illustrious career to date having won four league titles (three with Shelbourne and one with Drogheda United) as well as an FAI Cup winners medal with Cork City believes his career is far from over yet.
“I still think I’ve a lot to offer…I haven’t spoken to anybody yet but I’m keen to go back [playing],” said Cahill.
He also agreed that the timing was right to leave with the transfer window now open.
“Hopefully the phone will ring in the next couple of weeks,” Cahill concluded from the PFAI headquarters where he is a liaison officer.
