Dundalk to face Luxembourg challenge
Dundalk have drawn CS Grevenmacher of Luxembourg in the first qualifying round of the 2011 Europa League.
Dundalk were seeded and could have faced opposition from Northern Ireland, Wales, Estonia or the Faroe Islands in the draw that took place in Nyon, Switzerland.
CS Grevenmacher are based in the town of Grevenmacher in eastern Luxembourg and finished third in the Luxembourg National Division last season.
Included in the Grevenmacher team are two current Luxembourg internationals: goalkeeper Marc Oberweis and midfielder Mathias Janisch.
Should Dundalk defeat Grevenmacher, a much sterner test awaits them in the shape of Levski Sofia- 26 times champions of Bulgaria.
Levski finished third in the Bulgarian top division last season and play in the iconic Georgi Asparuhov stadium in Sofia.
Several international players feature in Levski’s squad, including internationals from Bulgaria, Morocco and Macedonia.
