After scoring his first hat-trick for Bohemians against Glenville, Paddy Madden was understandably delighted.

“I’m pleased with the display and the team performance.”

“It’s nice to have got an assist as well” said Madden, as he set up fellow striker Jason Byrne for the sixth Bohemians goal in the 7-1 FAI Cup drubbing.

The young striker, who scored eight goals on loan at Shelbourne last season, has not been as regular a scorer since his return to Bohemians. Madden outlined how he hopes this hat-trick can be the catalyst to kick-start his season.

“Hopefully it gives me a bit of confidence that will push me on for the rest of the season.”

Bohemians lie in fifth position in the Airtricity Premier Division, and Madden made it clear that there is a hunger to reclaim the FAI Cup they last won in 2008 as well as to win the league.

“I’m looking forward to the rest of the cup. Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run and go on and win the cup this year.”
