Monaghan United head to Carlow to take on FC Carlow in the 3rd Round of the FAI Ford Cup this Sunday 6th June.
Monaghan United almost met FC Carlow in the first round of the EA Sports Cup, but Carlow were knocked out in the preliminary round by Tullamore Town who Mons beat 6-1.
Monaghan United are favorites going into this game against non-league side Carlow. Cup games, however, are known for causing shocks. Monaghan United pulled of a shock in the EA Sports Cup when they defeated double winning champions Bohemians to send Monaghan through, who have subsequently sealed a place in the semi-final.
Mick Cooke will be hoping that his side can get the early goal to calm the nerves in recent pressure games they have achieved such an early start.
Carlow, who play their home matches in Ballon, will look to cause an upset in a relatively straight forward Third Round for the league clubs so far.
