The summer two-week siesta is almost upon us, but with a full programme of Premier Division games tonight, Extratime has put away the bucket and spade and decided to concentrate instead on what could be a pivotal night in the race for the title. Stay tuned.
League leaders Dundalk have a chance to put some leeway between themselves and fourth-placed Sporting Fingal, who meet at Oriel Park, while Bohemians travel west with the intention of further closing the gap on the four teams above them.
UCD could pull well clear of the relegation issues with a win over similarly-troubled Sligo Rovers. The table toppers by the night's end could well be Pete Mahon's St. Patrick's Athletic, who entertain Bray Wanderers. Shamrock Rovers may also take advantage of any slip ups by those above them when they host Darius Kieran's Drogheda United.
