Dundee secure Aaron Donnelly’s return from Nottingham Forest
Dundee have completed the signing of defender Aaron Donnelly from Nottingham Forest on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
The move, which is subject to international clearance, sees Donnelly return to the Scottish side where he impressed during a previous loan spell.
Donnelly, 20, played for Dundee last season, making 21 appearances. His debut came in October 2023 during a 2-0 victory against Livingston.
Reflecting on his return, Donnelly expressed his excitement: "I am absolutely delighted to be back at the club. As soon as I knew there was interest from the club it was a no-brainer to come back up here. My time here was excellent last season, really successful and I hope to pick up where I left off."
This season, Donnelly has been on loan at English League Two side Colchester United, where he featured in 22 matches.
The Northern Ireland international also made his senior debut for his country last November, coming on as a substitute against Andorra. He has previously represented Northern Ireland at Under-21, Under-17, and Under-16 levels.
Donnelly, who will wear the number 50 shirt, spoke of the strong bond he formed with the Dundee fans and his eagerness to return to action at Dens Park.
"There was a real connection with the fans and the players last season and I’m looking to repay them for the great support. I can’t wait to get back out in front of them. I am really looking forward to seeing the fans again at Dens Park on Thursday night and make sure to bring the noise."
