Eko Solomon joins Harrogate Town on loan from Huddersfield
Harrogate Town have completed their second signing of the January transfer window by securing a loan deal for Huddersfield's Eko Solomon. The 18-year-old will remain with the club until the end of the season.
Solomon, born in the Netherlands, is a player who can operate as both a left-back and central midfielder. His football journey began in England in 2010 when he joined Blackburn Rovers, spending five years at Ewood Park.
He later had a four-year stint with Everton before signing scholarship terms with Wigan Athletic in 2022. He subsequently joined Huddersfield, where he has frequently trained with Michael Duff’s first team.
Lloyd Kerry, Harrogate Town’s Head of Player Recruitment, praised Solomon’s attributes, saying: “He’s a big, strong, physical lad, and that’s one of the reasons we’ve brought him in—to add that size and physicality to the group. We received really good reviews from Michael Duff. It’s an opportunity for him to come in, play some men’s football, and provide competition for places.”
Kerry also highlighted the strong relationship between Harrogate Town and Huddersfield, which helped facilitate the deal.
“We’ve got good links with Huddersfield, and we’re impressed with what we’ve seen from him,” he added.
Solomon will wear the number 29 shirt at Harrogate Town and is set to be available for their Emirates FA Cup clash with Leeds United on Saturday.
