Captain Kilian Cantwell pens new deal with Bray Wanderers
Bray Wanderers have announced the retention of 2024 club captain Killian Cantwell as the Seagulls look ahead to the new season.
Having played with the club in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, the Kilkenny native is now in his second stint with Bray, making a total of 88 appearances for the club thus far. He rejoined Bray after being part of the promotion-winning Waterford side in 2023.
The experienced 29-year-old played a vital role in the Wicklow side’s push for promotion to the Premier Division in 2024, where they reached the Promotion/Relegation play-off but were defeated by FAI Cup winners Drogheda United.
The retention of Cantwell is a huge boost for Bray, especially having lost key players in the off-season, such as Harry Groome and Cole Omorehiomwan, to fellow First Division clubs Dundalk and Athlone Town.
Cantwell joins the likes of Max Murphy and Jimmy Corcoran in extending their stay at the Carlisle Grounds for 2025, as the club looks ahead to their opening fixture away to Longford Town on the 15th of February.
Additionally, Billy O'Neill has re-signed with the club, and Dylan Barnett has also joined the squad for the new season.
