Scottish midfielder Declan McDaid is the latest addition to manager Dario Castillo’s squad as he continues his preparations for the 2025 First Division season, which kicks off on 14 February.

The well-travelled left winger spent two and a half seasons at Dalymount Park, but following the end of his contract with Bohs, he now makes the switch to the Midlands club and becomes their ninth new signing ahead of the new season.

McDaid played a total of 72 times for the Gypsies and scored six league goals and two cup goals during his time at the club.

Prior to his arrival at Bohs, he had played with a number of Scottish Championship-level clubs, having started his career at Greenock Morton in 2013.

He later moved to Partick Thistle and then Ayr United before arriving at Dundee. He played 50 games for Dundee, scoring four goals along the way, and helped them win promotion to the Premier Division in 2021.

Athlone Town begin their new season with an away trip to Dundalk on 14 February.
