Atkinson signs on loan for Portsmouth

Portsmouth have signed Bristol City defender Rob Atkinson on loan as they look to avoid relegation from the Championship.

The 26 year old reunites with his former Oxford United boss John Mousinho, now in charge at Fratton Park, as he looks for regular senior playing time after suffering a knee injury in February 2023.

With another 18 months on his Robins contract and having 66 games under his belt prior to his injury, the club were willing to accommodate a temporary move to allow his match fitness return.

Speaking to the Bristol City website, Brian Tinnion, Technical Director, said: “This loan move will allow Rob to get valuable minutes at this level, which will continue to aid his return from injury.

“We wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season and will be keeping a close eye on his progress”.
