Accrington Stanley have secured the services of striker Charlie Brown from Morecambe on a two-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2027.

The 25-year-old Ipswich-born forward netted 53 goals during his time with Chelsea Under-18 and Under-21 teams. Brown’s career has since taken him to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on loan, followed by permanent spells with Milton Keynes Dons, Cheltenham, and most recently Morecambe.

During the 2023/24 Sky Bet League Two season, Brown tallied five goals and three assists at Morecambe.

Accrington Stanley manager John Doolan shared his excitement about the signing, saying: "I can't wait to work with him. It has been ongoing for a while. Ged [Brannan] knows Charlie from his Morecambe days, and we know him from playing against him earlier this season.

“His experience, the quality he has got, the games he has got, the goals he has scored—it’s a no-brainer, it’s a good bit of business. He is not in one role; you can put him in a number of positions, and that was a factor for us, his versatility. We can't wait to get going with him."

Brown echoed his enthusiasm, expressing gratitude for the opportunity. "I am really grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to get going, show the fans what I can do, score some goals, get some assists, and help the team,” he said.

"I know some of the other lads and I know Ged as well, so I am hopefully ready to hit the ground running. I can play anywhere attacking across the front. Last season, I played on the right side and up front, but one of my favourite positions is playing up front in a two. I enjoy anywhere at the top end of the pitch and around the goal."
