Athlone add Wilson and Hery and announce a number of re-signings
Athlone Town have announced the signings of full back JR Wilson, formerly of Sligo Rovers, and experienced midfielder Bastien Hery following the expiration of his contract with Longford Town.
Madagascar international Hery is a well travelled member of the League of Ireland playing pool having spent time with Bohemians, Finn Harps, Derry City, Galway United and Waterford after first arriving in the league with Limerick FC ahead of the 2018 season.
Dubliner Wilson also brings plenty of League of Ireland know how to the Athlone Community Stadium with spells at Bray Wanderers, Bohemians and Shelbourne ahead of his single season switch to the Showgrounds.
26 year old Wilson and 32 year old Hery are not the only two announcements made by Athlone in the past few days with the influential trio of Italian Brian Torre, Dubliner Dan McKenna and Kildare man Aaron Connolly- last year’s team captain- all re-signing for 2025.
