Cobh Ramblers have signed defender John O’Donovan from Munster rivals Cork City and announced a trio of re-signings.

Hailing from Clonakilty, the 20 year old is a graduate of the City Academy while he has represented the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys as well as lining out for the Turner’s Cross outfit on 31 occasions.

The Rams also announced three re-signings with 20 year old Youghal native Michael McCarthy, who has over half a century of appearances under his belt already, penning a new deal for 2025. McCarthy recently represented Ireland at Colleges and Universities level, scoring the winner against France.

Winger Tiernan O’Brien, like McCarthy, is another who has been at St Colman’s Park since joining the club at Under 15 level and has racked up over 50 appearances for the club. At 21 years of age, 2025 will be his fourth season involved with the senior outfit- a feat also shared with the aforementioned McCathy.

22 year old James O’Leary is another for whom 2022 was an important year as he moved to Ramblers from Cork City. In the same season he netted the crucial goal as the Munster Senior Cup was won at the expense of his former club City. He also found the net as Wexford were beaten in the 2023 Play Off semi final.
