Former Fleetwood Town striker Mipo Odubeko signs for Shelbourne
Shelbourne have announced the signing of 22-year-old striker Mipo Odubeko. The Dublin-born player joins on a long-term contract.
Odubeko arrives from Fleetwood Town, where he made 11 appearances and scored one goal. His career began at Manchester City before moving to Manchester United's Academy, where he played for three years.
Subsequent moves saw him sign for West Ham United. Loan spells followed at Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers, and Port Vale, along with a stint in Portugal with Marítimo's Division Two side.
To date, Odubeko has accumulated 75 appearances in English football and netted 28 goals.
Expressing his excitement, Odubeko stated: “I’m honoured to join Shelbourne FC, a club with incredible history and loyal supporters. My focus is clear: work hard, improve every day, and give everything to help the team win."
"I’m here to play my part, fight for this badge, and contribute to a successful season. I can’t wait to get started!”
Shelbourne FC manager Damien Duff praised the acquisition, saying: “Every team in Ireland wanted Mipo, but I am proud that he has chosen this special club. He was excited to join the champions, but I think the real reason he is here is because we are the no. 1 place to unlock potential and get the best out of players."
"He has amazing power, speed, and finishing that maybe not enough people have seen. Myself and the staff plan on unleashing all of it. He is a fascinating signing.”
