Sligo Rovers add Cian Kavanagh to ranks from St Patrick’s Athletic
Sligo Rovers have snapped up the services of striker Cian Kavanagh from St Patrick’s Athletic ahead of the 2025 season.
The Dubliner joins the Bit O’Red on a two-year deal.
Kavanagh has previously lined out for Derry City and Waterford in the League of Ireland alongside Scottish clubs Hearts and Cowdenbeath.
And he is hoping to see his potential unlocked at the Showgrounds by boss John Russell.
“John tries to play expansive football that I think will suit my style,” he said.
“I want to be on the team sheet every week. That’s going to come down to me putting in a good pre-season and performing day in, day out.
“I want to score as many goals as I can and hopefully we’ll finish in a high position. A European spot for 2026 would be great.
“The support this club gets every second Saturday from the stands is something that stands out to all visiting players at the Showgrounds, believe me and it really stood out to me.
“I also remember the noise they made at Richmond Park on their visits to Pat’s last season.
“They were Monday and Sunday afternoons, the noise they made! It was incredible given the length of journey these fans have to make!”
