Champions Shelbourne re-sign quintet ahead of 2025 campaign

League of Ireland Premier Division champions Shelbourne have confirmed that quintet JJ Lunney, Mark Coyle, Evan Caffrey, Paddy Barrett and Harry Wood have penned new deals with the club.

It means that the Reds have now got Sean Boyd, Conor Kearns, Tyreke Wilson, Lunney, Barrett, Coyle, Caffrey, Lewis Temple, Kameron Ledwidge (2026), Aiden O’Brien and Rayhaan Tulloch under contract for next season.

Lunney has signed a three-year deal at Tolka Park which takes him up until the end of the 2027 season.

"It means the world to sign back with Shels," former Bohemians midfielder Lunney said.

“I came here in 2021 when the club was trying to win the First Division. We're an ambitious group and want to keep building on what's already been achieved.”

Barrett has also signed a long-term deal and said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have signed back and to be staying here. I'm really happy with how last season went both individually and of course as a team, winning the league and bringing it back to Tolka for the first time in 18 years.”

Captain Coyle also returns having played a leading role in the Reds’ first league title since 2006, with Wood - who scored the league-winning goal in Derry - also committing.

Former UCD starlet Caffrey has also penned a new contract.
