Shelbourne confirm three player exits
Shelbourne have announced the departure of three players - vice-captain Shane Griffin, forward Matty Smith, and forward Dean Williams - after their contracts expired.
Griffin, who joined Shelbourne in December 2022, played a key role in the team’s defence over the last three seasons.
Despite battling injuries, he made 77 senior appearances and scored two goals for the Reds. The Cork native also served as vice-captain during his time at the club.
Matty Smith initially arrived on loan from Derry City in August 2022 before making the move permanent later that year.
The Scottish forward scored eight competitive goals in 72 appearances.
Dean Williams joined Shelbourne in November 2023 but was unable to command a starting berth.
Williams previously played for Bohemians, Drogheda United, Longford Town and Shamrock Rovers.
