Will Fitzgerald pens new deal with Sligo Rovers
Will Fitzgerald has penned a new two-year contract with Sligo Rovers
The midfielder returns to the Showgrounds for his fourth season with the Bit O’Red.
Fitzgerald made a name for himself early among Sligo fans, with multiple memorable moments in his debut season in 2022, upon signing from Derry at the back end of the year before.
The Limerick native recently made his 100th appearance for the club, establishing himself as a core member of the squad.
30 of those appearances were earned this year, in a season where Sligo outperformed everybody’s expectations.
Fitzgerald had this to say about his new deal: “This is a club I have the utmost respect and admiration for, especially the supporters and those who keep the club thriving.
“I feel I’m a valued member of the squad and I really want to play my part in what hopefully be a successful future."
He was full of praise for Sligo boss John Russell and said: “When you play under John, you know you’re playing under someone who knows how to lead the club in the right direction.
“We have a new kit deal and wheels are now in motion for the new stadium. It’s such an exciting time to be at Rovers and I want to be part of all that.”
