Aodh Dervin pens new Dundalk contract

Dundalk have confirmed that midfielder Aodh Dervin has signed a new deal to keep him at Oriel Park for 2025.

25-year-old Dervin has won two promotions from the First Division - first with his hometown club Longford Town in 2020 via the playoffs.

He was also part of the Galway United side that strolled to the First Division title last year.

Dervin joined Dundalk during the summer and has played 13 times for the Lilywhites since joining.

And he is hoping to help Dundalk return to the top-flight at the first time of asking next season under boss Ciaran KIlduff.

“Obviously, last season didn’t go the way that we had planned, but I spoke to the manager, he’s very excited to be back, he’s ambitious and he’s intent,” Dervin told dundalkfc.com

“That’s the way I am as well. It’s a great feeling to be back and I’m looking forward to getting Dundalk to where they belong again…

“You need character to stay here now. The club isn’t where you want to be at the minute, but I want to be a part of getting it back up and I want to be part of winning things again. I knew this is where I wanted to be.”

Dervin’s return comes amid news that Sam Durrant, Felix Goddard, defender Bobby Faulkner and forward Josh O’Connor have left the club earlier this week.

Daryl Horgan is expected to stay though.
