St Patrick’s Athletic have confirmed that midfielder Jamie Lennon has penned a new long-term at Richmond Park.

The 27-year-old has established himself as a key cog in boss Stephen Kenny’s plans in recent months, propelling the Saints to a third-placed league finish.

And with 217 games under his belt as a Saint, Lennon is the second-highest appearance holder at the club - behind Chris Forrester.

He joins Anto Breslin and Danny Rogers in signing new deals at the club in recent weeks.

“I'm delighted to finally get it done,” Lennon said. “I've been at the club a long time now, this is the end of my seventh season at senior level and ninth overall.

“The club means a lot to me so to stay here for the next few years is really important to me and I'm glad it's over the line now.”

Lennon piqued the interest of US based clubs earlier this year but has been swayed to stay on.

“It's brilliant news that Jamie has re-signed,” Kenny added.

“When I came in in the summer, Jamie informed me that he was ready to leave the club to go to America at the end of this season and he had a couple of opportunities to go there to the USL.

“We are absolutely delighted that has chosen to stay…

“He is a conventional number 6 but much more than that, he's our Rodri, in terms of the job he does. Jamie has without doubt, in my opinion, got the capacity to show he is one of the best players in the league over the next number of years.”
